Hello, just signing in here, welcome to my blog. I am a 21 year old art student from Dublin. Ireland. This blog has been set up in relation to an elective module I am taking as part of my BA in fine art for the Dublin Institute of technology Mountjoy Sqaure campus. The module is called virtual environments, it is held on the online world of second life, with a weekly lecture at 8 pm on Thursdays with John O'Conner, the content of the lectures deals with the positives and negatives of online communities, the idea of the brand, the contrasts to how things work online and in the real world, the way the global downturn has affected the internet and various other topics.
The point of this blog is for me to express my views and critical analysis of the topics presented to me in class and come to my own conclusions through blogging and engaging with second life.

having established that I think it would be good idea to tell a little about my current online background, I'd say that have a very atypical presence online, I'm active on facebook and youtube and I have google as my homepage but I don't blog (until now) or twitter so in short I'm aware of most online trends and communities but I haven't really engaged with them until now.
so coming into this I don't really have a proper formulated opinion on the online world because i don't know enough about it but I am sure that I will fairly soon.
